Danielle and Ethan may have gotten engaged in snowy Colorado, but these two knew they wanted to get married on the beach. The luxurious Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya in Riviera Maya, Mexico, served as the perfect backdrop for this couple’s intimate ceremony on the beach in May. Danielle worked with Lindsay from Foerster Travel and the resort’s wedding planner to curate a simple and romantic beach-side ceremony. She decorated the resort’s gazebo with wooden lanterns and a full floral installation, featuring white and blush roses and loose eucalyptus leaves, just like the ones featured in her bouquet.
Danielle and Ethan personalized their big day with so many unique details. During the ceremony, they each honored a parent who had passed away by pinning photos of them to their bouquet and boutonniere, a sweet and private way to celebrate these two important people in their lives. They also added a splash of color – and created the best photo opp – by placing a maraca on each ceremony seat with a note to ‘shake at the kiss.’
During cocktail hour, guests sipped on signature drinks named after their dogs, Ellie Mae and Raider. What a perfect way to include pets at a wedding! And what Mexico wedding wouldn’t be complete without a mariachi band! The band entertained guests during the cocktail hour and led guests in the reception.
It was such a joy to work with these two and wish this couple the very best!
If you’re dreaming of a beach wedding, Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya is one of my top all-inclusive recommendations for couples looking to have a destination wedding with a great support team on-site. If you’re looking to get married closer to home, it would also be a fantastic honeymoon spot for a couple who loves the beach!
